SPAIN - SACK RACE

The sack race is a fun game in which children will have to race by jumping to get the finish line. Indeed, they will have to place their 2 legs in a burlap sack and hold it at the waist. 

The educational advantages of the game:

  • balance work
  • development of gross motor skills
  • play in community
  • learning and listening to the rules of the game

We need for Sack Race  game:

  • number of players: from 2 children

  • age: from 5 years old

  • material: burlap sack

  • Duration: 10 minutes

Sack race rules

Provide big, strong and resistant bags, burlap sack for example. Plan a course or simply a start and finish line. Children place themselves in the burlap sack and hold them with their hands at hip level. Throw the top start! Children must jump to the finish line. The first one to cross the finish line wins the race.

Game description Players, Materials, Rules: A player from the starting team must throw the ball towards one of the opponents. If the opponent catches it without falling to the ground, the ball will become his team and the one who threw it will become his prisoner. But if he fails to catch it and the ball hits him, he must go to the other field as a prisoner. The prisoners will remain in the zone of the rival team in a delimited area. To save themselves they will have to catch the ball when it passes by and throw it at an opponent. The winning team will be the one that manages to capture all its rivals. Or in case it is prolonged, the team that has obtained the most prisoners will be proclaimed the winner. Other possible ways to play this game is by adding balls and graveyards.
